✷ TATTOO AFTERCARE ✷

OVERALL CLEANING ROUTINE:✿ Gently wash your tattoo and the surrounding area with unscented soap and warm/cold water.
✿ Massage away any dried blood or plasma until clean. Rinse thoroughly.
✿ Pat the area dry with a clean towel reserved just for your tattoo or use paper towels and only press on the skin, no rubbing.
✿ After patting dry, let the area air dry completely for 30–45 minutes.
✿ Leave the tattoo uncovered during the day and wear loose clothing around it. Be mindful of not letting it come in contact with anything contaminated.
Avoid using any ointment or lotion for the first three days.
DAY OF YOUR TATTOO:
* Remove the initial bandage (Dri-Loc pad or plastic wrap) a few hours after your appointment.
* Clean your tattoo using the routine above.
* Let it air dry completely and leave it uncovered for the rest of the evening. Take care not to bump or touch anything with the tattooed area.
Before bed:
Cover it with a clean Dri-Loc pad or plastic wrap and secure it with medical tape. Keep it protected while you sleep.
DAY TWO:
In the morning, remove the bandage and clean your tattoo as recommended above. Make sure to pat dry it and then let it air dry entirely.
After cleaning and letting your tattoo dry out. Leave it uncovered during the day. Repeat this process  2 to 3 times a day for 3 days. NO OINTMENT at this stage. For the first 2 nights cover the tattoo with clean plastic film or a Dri-Loc pad and secure it with medical tape before going to bed. You may extend this up to 3 days if there is still any plasma being released.DAY 4 AND ONWARDS:
Starting on day four, you may begin applying ointment after cleaning and drying.
Use a very thin layer each time, less is better. Make sure both your hands are clean and dry before touching the tattooed area.
Note: Your tattoo will start peeling within a week or week and a half. At this point switch from ointment to a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer like Lubriderm for sensitive skin or any other brand you prefer. From that point on, you only need to wash the tattoo during your regular showers or once a day, and keep using the moisturizer 2-4 times a day, always applying a thin layer.Your skin will remain dry for a few weeks while restoring its natural barrier so it is helpful to keep it moisturized during this period and afterwards.SECOND SKIN RECOMMENDATIONS:
If using Second Skin, you can apply it to the tattoo on the second or third day, making sure the skin is dry and you haven’t applied any ointment on it. Otherwise the sticker will not stick.
Leave the second skin on 2 to 4 days depending on how well it holds, and asses daily if the area is secured and no leaking has occurred. If there is leaking or the sticker has any openings remove the patch and follow the dry healing process above.
IMPORTANT REMINDERS:
• Contact me immediately if you notice redness, irritation, or signs of infection.
• Keep the tattoo clean and dry at all times.
• Avoid sun exposure and swimming (including pools, hot tubs, lakes, and oceans) for three weeks.
• Avoid alcohol for ten days, as it can affect healing.
• Wear loose, breathable clothing to avoid rubbing and lint buildup on the tattoo.
• If you notice any pimples on the area, most of the times it is caused by using too much ointment and saturating the pores. Switch ointment or moisturizer to a lighter and easy to absorb one and only apply a very thin layer.
